There is no secret that Cattle Decapitattion is a very famous name in the U.S. extreme Metal scene, and not only, and I'm very sure that band fans and all the Death Metal freaks will love the interview I've made a while ago with the band leader; but all these thanks to Davis Gregory from the German office of Metal Blade. So if you want to know if this "The Harvest Floor" is band better album you should read the following roars and you should make your own idea concerning Cattle Decapitation, just in case that if you don't have one yet!
Arcana Noctis: Hello there! How are the things going on out there now that you have realised your brand new album called "The Harvest Floor" has just seen the light of the day?
Cattle Decapitation: Things are going great. We're up in Canada starting a 3 month North American tour cycle; and should be heading over Europe, in September of this year.
Arcana Noctis: There is no doubt that you are a very known band, but can you tell us what are the most important moments from your career? Also tell us if you are satisfied with band's past now that you recorded Cattle Decapitation's 9th official material?
Cattle Decapitation: Yeah I'm of course happy with the previous material. For whatever time that music was written, it is what it is. You can't compare songs like "Body Farm" to "Colon-Blo". There have been a ton of great moments, I am sure once we do some of the big Euro festivals, those will be at the top of the list!
Arcana Noctis: As I said before your new opus was recorded under the banner of one of the most important labels, Metal Blade, on January 20th, 2009. Could you please introduce us this last creation by telling us the most important things we should know about it, and it will be fuckin' great if you tell us the story tracks!
Cattle Decapitation: Well story of the tracks, you (or you reading this) really need to sit down with the booklet; just as people did before digital tracks. The booklet has a ton of things going on, from the cover to the lyrics and pictures.
Arcana Noctis: As the other materials this one deals with the same musical lines you got used us in the latest years, Grindcore! How do you see this new one compared to band's previous materials, especially to the last one "Karma.Bloody.Karma"?
Cattle Decapitation: It's similar in regards to the technical aspects and speed of the album. The experimentation is also a little deeper, which just contributes to the whole dark and heavy element of the album.
Arcana Noctis: If I'm not wrong this is the first material recorded with the drummer David McGraw from Sleep Terror! So what happened with your old drummer and how did you get this new one? Does he brought something new in band's musical content or the album was already recorded when you get him?
Cattle Decapitation: David was given an opportunity to do a tour with us, and then join the band. He's an amazing drummer and contributes a lot to the writing.
Arcana Noctis: Probably our readers and band's fans would like to know a few more things about the cover artwork! Is this the most interesting one you have done until now and what are the major links between the musical content, the lyrical lines and CD's booklet?
Cattle Decapitation: The cover and booklet are all intertwined. They go hand in hand. You wonder what all these people are lining up for. Look in the booklet!
Arcana Noctis: I know that you used some guests to record this product such as Ross Sewage (Impaled/Ludicra) and Dino Sommese (Dystopia/Asunder). Even Jarboe from Swans is present here to record with Cattle Decapitation her awesome voice. We can find here also Jackie Perez Gratz (Grayceon/Amber Asylum) and Los Angeles noisician John Wiese! So how did you get this entire people to work with Cattle Decapitation? Are you going to change band's musical content in the future by doing it more melodical? What's the reason behind all these things I've mentioned above?
Cattle Decapitation: Things fell into place. Nothing was set in stone at all. The opportunity arose for each person with timing and so forth. The end result is perfect, and would not want to change a thing. For future stuff who knows, maybe a childrens choir?
Arcana Noctis: As we know this is the 4th album you have recorded under Metal Blade banner! Are you happy to be a part of this huge home recording? Is Brian Slagel, and his crew too, content with Cattle Decapitation?
Cattle Decapitation: I think Brian and the Metal Blade Records folks are happy with the music and the marketing aspects that can come along with the record. We're making up some lost ground so to speak, and over in Europe we're really just beginning to make some news. That will give the MBR German office some leverage, which they didn't before. It's falling into place.
Arcana Noctis: I suppose that you received some reviews concerning this album! What do you have to say about this subject? (The French Hard Rock Magazine paid your efforts with a 7,5 from 10 to give an example)
Cattle Decapitation: Reviews have been great. However, reviews are only reviews. You take them for what they are. Jonas Brothers also get great reviews in magazines. Ha-ha
Arcana Noctis: You are going to play several shows with Mayhem, Marduk and Cephalic Carnage, as well as Black Metal newcomers, Withered, in Blackened Fest tour which will start very soon! What are going to tell us about this fest and what was your live activity since January 20th, 2009 when you have launched this material called "The Harvest Floor"?
Cattle Decapitation: The Blackened Fest is a monster tour over here. You all might be accustomed to tours like this in Europe, but over here they're not such a regular thing. We're very excited to be a part of it. We're also heading out with GWAR out here as well, which will just be an absolute BLAST. After that, we're taking some time off, and then heading over to you in September hopefully!
Arcana Noctis: What do you have in mind for the future concerning band's live activity and what should we expect from you when you will going to be on the stage?
Cattle Decapitation: On stage the set of course has a majority of songs from "The Harvest Floor", but also goes back into our earlier albums. We play some songs that we have not played in years. Also, you get to hear some pieces that John Wiese created for us. It's a great set.
Arcana Noctis: Concerning to your tour I've mentioned above it seems extremely rare to see live on the same stage bands who deals with Black Metal, such as Mayhem, Marduk and Withered, and with very hard things such as Cephalic Carnage and Cattle Decapitation of course! Do you think that the fans will be glad to see such incredible acts in a one show than paying another ticket to watch another gig with bands involved in Black Metal or in Goregrind?
Cattle Decapitation: Well the fact of the matter is, when you boil down to it, all the bands play fast as fuck material. All the bands are heavy. People really need to get over the sub-genre barriers. Just wait until we head out with a Punk band!!!
Arcana Noctis: Because the end of this intie is very close unfortunately, I would like you to tell us your future plans concerning Cattle Decapitation!
Cattle Decapitation: More touring and touring! Maybe another video too?
Arcana Noctis: Here we are! Thanks a lot for your time and see you soon! You have the last word to end this intie properly!
Cattle Decapitation: Thanks for the interview, be sure to check out our website for tour dates and so forth. There's always a ton of shit going on. It's obnoxious.
